BNB Made Easy

Tim Mortimer

Building Legacy, Connection, and a New Standard for Regional Hospitality

Where It All Began

For Tim Mortimer, the story of BNB Made Easy starts well before the business itself — in the vineyards of Orange, NSW, where hard work and family were at the centre of everything.

In 1993, Tim’s parents, Peter and Julie Mortimer, made the decision to leave behind the hustle of Sydney and raise their five boys in the country. After a rugby league career with the Canterbury Bulldogs, Peter wanted his sons to experience the same kind of upbringing he’d had in Wagga Wagga. When a property deal fell through near Junee, fate led the family to Orange.

With their five boys still in school uniforms, the Mortimer family planted 24,000 vines on a 40-acre block just north of Orange — Chardonnay, Cabernet & Shiraz. That vineyard would become Mortimer’s Wines. And Tim would grow up to carry forward that same spirit of building something from the ground up.

“I was one of five,” Tim laughs. “So Dad had a ready-made workforce.”

It was a childhood steeped in long hours, dirt-under-your-fingernails resilience, hospitality, and community — a foundation that would quietly shape Tim’s future as a founder.

Proud of the Name, But Writing His Own Chapter

Yes, Tim is proud to be a Mortimer. The name carries weight in regional NSW, thanks to the legacy built by his father Peter and uncles Chris and Steve — both on and off the rugby league field.

Tim forged his own direction first through sport, then in education, where he worked as a high school teacher, bringing energy, encouragement, and leadership to young people.

It wasn’t until 2018 — while still teaching and raising a young family — that a new idea began to take root. Inspired by the values he was raised with, and recognising a gap in regional hospitality, Tim decided to start something of his own.

No investors. No roadmap. Just a garage and a laptop. Tim put it all on the line, driven by a strong gut feeling that, if given its best shot, this idea wouldn’t fail.

A Business Built on Country Values

The success of BNB Made Easy isn’t about scale. It’s about substance.

From day one, Tim focused on doing things properly — growing steadily, hiring locally, and building trust. The company never took shortcuts. Every new town was entered with care, and every owner relationship was built on transparency and service.

“I have a good combination of backgrounds in sport, farming, education, and travel — but the common thread has always been community. Success is built on showing up, doing the right thing, and being part of something bigger than yourself.”

That philosophy hasn’t changed, even as the business has expanded. Whether it’s onboarding a new property, adapting to changing market conditions, or supporting contractors on the ground, the mission remains the same: always strive for excellence and elevate the standard of hospitality across regional Australia.

Looking Ahead — Without Losing Sight

As BNB Made Easy looks to the future, the focus remains on staying ahead of the curve. Whether through innovation, improved systems, professional development, or exploring new business avenues, the company is poised and ready for what’s next.

“Opportunities simply don’t present themselves unless you’re ready and looking for them” Tim says. “And we’re excited about what’s ahead for country NSW.”

From humble beginnings, Tim has gone on to co-author the Amazon bestselling book Hospitable Hosts and is now a regular speaker at national industry events, including ASTRA’s Stay Conference on the Gold Coast. But his greatest pride remains the same: the community his business supports — the locals it employs, the families it helps, and the regional towns it continues to uplift.

Legacy, Reimagined

Tim Mortimer didn’t just inherit a family name — he inherited a way of doing things. From the vineyard rows of his childhood to the homes he now manages across regional NSW, the values remain the same: work hard, show up, and care deeply.

BNB Made Easy isn’t just a business. It’s an extension of that legacy — built for community, shaped by experience, and grounded in country values.
